Advantages of tablets in schools

Technology is invading the education field at an increasing pace. Technology in education has evolved from learning on black boards to learning on interactive whiteboards and today, education is expanding to include e-Learning on tablets, desktops or laptops. Studying through tablets make children more focus towards the studies. Today in this blog we will discuss about the advantages of tablets in schools especially for students.

Advantages of tablets in schools

Tablets prepare students for the future workplace, they give confidence and creative tools unrivalled by traditional classroom infrastructure in schools , and they engage those who are hard to reach and motivate and many more advantages are there. The advantages of using electronic devices in learning are common knowledge. An increasing number of traditional classrooms factor in personal-use tablets as part of the curriculum.

Why Should We Use A Tablet At All?

Tablets are relatively cheap and they’re easy to carry. They’re smaller versions of laptops making them good replacements for books and notebooks.

Tablets are also becoming trendy in the market and it would be a shame if you didn’t buy one when its price is relatively cheap. But if you’re having some doubts, then why not check out the list below?

Some advantages of tablets in schools especially for students:

Get Live knowledge

One of the best advantages of using tablets in schools is gain live knowledge. The instructor can quickly deliver engaging material to the students in real-time in just a couple of taps. Tablets give students instant access to individual research, a tremendous knowledge base available at their fingertips. Students can use the recommended resources to do their homework. The tablet is a fairly priced, mighty computer that enriches training through the use of an intuitive touchscreen and simple controls.

Direct Communication

Tablets connect all major stakeholders: students, parents and teachers. Handwritten notes or tasks can be lost in no time, intentionally or accidentally. This never happens with digital data: any feedback including criticism, kudos or concern, is out there for further reference. The ‘forgetfulness’ factor doesn’t fly anymore. Parents can also able to check in on grades and contact the teacher if their child needs extra help. With email and online chats, teachers can remind their students to submit work or talk with a kid who’s struggling to make sure that no one has a disadvantage in their education.

Live knowledge base

The instructor can quickly deliver engaging material to the students in real-time in just a couple of clicks. Sorry, a couple of taps! Furthermore, students can use the recommended resources to do their homework. Tablets give students instant access to individual research, a tremendous knowledge base available at their fingertips.

Personal approach

As an instructor, you have to address a multitude of learning styles since not all students are equal. Some are slow runners, others are sprinters. Pace differs, interests differ as well. The teacher can use the e-Learning arsenal to overcome this barrier and deliver the same course in different ways. For example, show videos or invite students to play edu games.

Faster visualization, quicker reporting

The tablet is a great incentive for cultivating scientific skills. For instance, students can document their field trips right away, be it camping, going to the zoo or a museum. It’s not just taking pictures, students can make use of interactive maps or facility-specific content available on smartphones and tablets.

Another one of my favorites is the voice recording function. Students can use it to record lessons or ideas they have. They can go back and listen to it later on and remember exactly what information they need. Other things like calculators and weather apps are added bonuses. All the little features of electronic devices are there to help kids solve problems and get their work done quickly.

Improving computer skills

Like it or not, computers rule the world, so it’s vital to learn how to rule computers from elementary school onwards. Besides, the convenient tablet format encourages creativity – draw, compose music or make films with no extra tools required. That’s how students become a creative force rather than passive knowledge recipients.

Easy To Use

You’ve probably noticed that kids in preschool are able to watch YouTube videos and play games using their parent’s tablets. They are able to do this because tablets are one of the easiest gadgets to use.

With a swipe of a finger, you’ll be able to access and navigate your way through a tablet. This is especially useful since you won’t miss out on listening to your teacher and looking at the slides they’re showing.

Easily Time Managing

One big advantage tablets have over a notebook are the various apps that you can use. As a student, managing your time is a must which is exactly why you should take advantage of the various apps and features that your tablets offer.

Easily communicating with classmates

With a tablet on hand, sending files and doing group work has never been easier. You can communicate with classmates and discuss your lessons without having to physically meet each other for a study session.

Although you can do this with any gadget, the tablet’s size is perfect for reading and sending files. So it’s better suited for schoolwork when compared to a smartphone.

Allows For Efficient Studying

Your tablet is a digital library. It can store thousands of books in its memory. What’s great about this is that you can access them all simultaneously in your tablet making it easier to study or cross-reference multiple books at the same time.

Cheaper Than A Laptop

Laptops are very handy in the classroom but not everyone can afford them. Tablets, on the other hand, are usually cheaper than laptops and they’re more portable.

This makes tablets a good alternative to laptops if you are on a budget. And given that you’re a student,  you probably need to save money for food and rent.

Cons of Using Tablets in the Classroom

The major con is like playing games, watching videos, and using social media. With little kids it would be even harder because tablets would allow access to games and videos, which would also distract other students in the area.

Second problem is the tablets may freeze, things like photos, apps are mysteriously deleted, and assignments don’t submit quite right.

Conclusion

The tablets are a good option for studies but it is also major problem. It is a best device and a worst device also. Tablets will help you keep focusing on your studies but in the other hand a single notification can distract you also. There are many reasonable concerns but the number one concern is that it’s a distraction. If you think you have the self-control to focus on the lesson and use your tablet productively, then you should definitely get a tablet for class.
